You are a Chemist, Physicist, College Professor, Administrator of a Fortune 500 company, you name it; you are highly educated and religion doesn’t play much into your life, if at all!

On the other hand, around 70% of America say they are religious and about half of them who actually practice one of the many established religions. You may wonder why so many people are so willing to enslave themselves to some religious system, to someone who may be no more real than the easter bunny. I get it. We live in such an advanced technological Age, on the brink of an AI era in fact, that the ethereal, fluffy stuff of “religion” doesn’t have a place or seem to have any relevance.

If that is so, there is no need to read a silly article like this…

But if you quit this before starting, you should know that Religion has two things that Secularism, Humanism and Atheism cannot do: provide The Standard and offer Life.

Time for Disclosures: This is not a “neutral” article on Religion vs Humanism.

I am formally educated through the college level, with the ability to procure a PhD, if I so choose but I am also religiously educated. I am not binary in my thinking; Science and Religion both have given me great enlightenment in Life. And when I say “religion”, I don’t mean just any religion in general. I am biased (from your perspective) towards the Messianic faith, which is really another word for Judeo-Christianity. I reject the modern religions of Judaism and Christianity both but yet, there is validity in their standard Texts.

There’s no need to take it beyond this so let’s begin….

The two Standards

EVERYONE has a Standard; even Relativist Philosophers and Humanists have a Standard once you figure out their system. The difference between Religion’s standard and Humanist-Atheism’s standard is Morality vs. Ethics, respectively. Non-religious people may banter about Morality but really, they mean Ethics because the two have distinct, but similar meanings.

Ethics: is a Code that may or may not be based on a text and furthermore, the Ethical Standard can and will change over time.

Morality: IS a code based upon a religious denomination’s sacred Text(s). Their Standard can change slightly over time but for all-intents-and-purposes, their code or standard is more or less Fixed or Concrete.

This is rather a paramount concept: Ethics and Morality are considered synonyms in the layman’s language but when you know the history of Secularism and Religion, you know that it “just ain’t so”. These are different standards with a common goal.

Why the Religious Standard is better

Even though Ethics and Morality bring a person to a similar End, I will attempt to stump for why the religious standard, that is, Morality, is better.

Have you ever thought that a certain Religious (insert your favorite meme here) person is stupid? Or even All religions if you are atheistic??

I’m sure you have because if I wasn’t what I was, I would think that too! In fact, I DO think that of most religious persuasions – except for one of course (more on that before the end). Here’s a verse from the Messianic scriptures that isn’t so enlightening when you think about it but it was spoken by YHVH, the Creator of Mankind (pronounced Yehovah or Yehuah):

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not my ways,” says YHVH. “As high as the sky is above the earth are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts higher than your thoughts” (from Yeshayahu/ Is. 55:8-9)

Does this statement surprise you?? Truly?? I mean, if you are smarter than the average religious person, should this be surprising? You have studied for more years than they did, over more subjects. You are smarter than the average 5^th grader (maybe! This was an actual show 10 or more years ago) or else you wouldn’t have gotten a high school diploma.

On the other hand, your professor is smarter than you or else why in the world are you going into debt to learn from them?!?

If an alien came to our world from across the galaxy, would they not be smarter than we are since we can’t even break away from our own solar system?!? Yes, of course. If you are a “smart” person, you would acknowledge that there are very likely smarter beings than us in the galaxy, not to mention fellow humans here on earth!

IF SO, then why would a claim by an Elohim (“God”) to be smarter than you surprise you?? Because you don’t “believe” in that Elohim?? But that is EXACTLY the first point we are making here as to why the Religious standard is better than Secularism, Atheism and Humanism: you have to make ALL KINDS OF judgments in Life that advance your life, to do what is right and attain success. Do you want to follow a standard that always changes or do you want to follow a standard that will be true tomorrow and for the rest of your life?? That’s the difference, again, between Ethics and Morality.

Choose Morality; choose religion. We are still a Free Society but in order to save you Time and grief, I would recommend the Messianic Standard – the Bible (which contains the older and newer scriptures, not one or the other)

The Messianic Faith offers Life

The second part to this thesis, what Religion, particularly Messianism, can offer you that Secularism, Atheism and Humanism absolutely cannot and that is LIFE.

“Life? I have life already” you may say.

True, you live now but what about in 20 years? 50 years? 200 years?? Will you still be alive? You know what I insinuate here: Will you always live? Where will you go?

Indisputable reality check here: everyone who has ever lived has died! Even if Science comes up with the key to immortal, physical Life in this century (could happen!), a person will still be able to die.

I don’t care how much you learn in college, for the rest of your life or if you attain great wealth beyond what you thought you could receive, it WILL come to an End – and then what???

Only Yeshua the Messiah from Israel, of the Bible promises to give Life to you beyond the end of this one…no Philosopher, Wise man/woman; not Abraham, Moses, Musa, Mohammed, Gandhi or the Buddha promised to do this or can!

ONLY YESHUA did.

Don’t like church? Read the Bible why they do it.

Don’t let people who gave a bad rap associated with “church” keep you from learning about your Maker. Congregation, church, kehillah, synagogue are all “churches” and all mean the same thing essentially, “an assembly of people”; just like school! Colleges have bad students and teachers; so don’t “churches”.
